The Seminoles entered the game as a 12 point favorite wholesale jerseys to win, but national pundits quickly made FGCU a trendy upset pick.

FSU was on track to make such predictions sound foolish, building a big lead before nearly giving up the win in the closing minutes.

Bacon led the charge, playing arguably the most assertive first half of his FSU career, leading the Seminoles with 16 points early. His towering slam dunk late in the first half helped FSU offset a 12 0 FGCU run that gave the Eagles a 29 28 lead. Savoy missed two 3 pointers, had an offensive foul and lost FGCU's Rayjon Tucker on the wing for a momentum shifting slam dunk. Rathan Mayes put up an air ball and missed a jumper during the stretch.

But Bacon scored four of FSU's last five baskets in the first half to help the Seminoles take a 40 36 lead into halftime despite a five minute drought that included Florida State shooting 0 of 7.

"He made good decisions with the ball, and we're going to need more of that from him as we move through the remainder of the tournament," Hamilton said.

FSU sophomore forward Terance Mann helped spark the Seminoles, scoring 9 of his 11 points in the second half. Rathan Mayes finished with 10 points, five rebounds and five assists.

Florida Gulf Coast guard Brandon Goodwin, a UCF transfer, scored 28 points. Zach Johnson added 17 points to pace the Eagles, who were making their third NCAA Tournament appearance in five years.

It was the team's NCAA bid since taking the college basketball wholesale nfl jerseys world by storm in 2013, reaching the Sweet 16 while showcasing their up tempo "Dunk City" style of play.

While the victory was encouraging for Florida State, the miscues are causes for concern for the Seminoles, who are hoping to make a deep NCAA Tournament run.

FSU was morbid from the 3 point line, shooting 15 percent (2 of 13). Isaac made FSU's first 3 pointer with 12:45 to go in the second half.

The Seminoles also struggled from the free throw line, just as they notoriously have throughout the season, firing 62 percent (24 of 39).

Despite the mistakes, FSU's best players used speed and tenacity on the defensive end to beat FGCU for the second time in school history.

"I think we did a good job of withstanding their runs," Rathan Mayes said. "They wouldn't go away tonight."
